Just as we saw last Friday, with the completely fact and evidence-free dog and pony show put on by the Intelligence Community and their media allies, late Tuesday afternoon, the Establishment Empire struck again, this time with an unprecedented double down. No doubt working in tandem (and with Donald Trump’s many establishment enemies on both the left and right), CNN and BuzzFeed did something so sleazy and dishonest that, just a few years ago, even to a media cynic like me, it would have seemed impossible.
With a breathless breaking news report, left-wing CNN went first. To no one’s surprise, the once-respected Jake Tapper took the lead. Undoubtedly CNN’s overall goal was to offer up the imprimatur of “journalism” so that a batch of leaked and completely unsubstantiated anti-Trump documents could be dumped on the American public the night before the President-elect’s very first press conference.
Despite the fact that these documents are unsubstantiated, despite the fact that — and this is important — the rabidly anti-Trump media has had almost a year to substantiate them and could not, by pretending it had a legitimate news story about the documents, CNN laid the groundwork for BuzzFeed‘s Ben Smith to violate every code of ethics in the world of journalism.
Using CNN’s Potemkin report as cover, Smith released page after page of unverified, unchecked, unsubstantiated rumors, some of them personally embarrassing, about Trump and his campaign team.
This breach of ethics is so breathtaking that even David Corn of the hard-left Mother Jones threw a penalty flag.
CNN and BuzzFeed know exactly what they are doing. Now that the sleazy rumors are out, they are out. Now all of the media will feel they simply must talk about them. Tomorrow, just nine days before he is set to be sworn in, this unprecedented smear-job, hatched and launched by two major news organizations that pose as objective, will dominate straight through to Inauguration Day.
Trust me, CNN and BuzzFeed‘s timing was no accident. CNN claims that Trump and Obama being briefed on the matter made it legitimate news. But anyone who tells you the timing and leak of that briefing was an accident or uncoordinated, is a total fool or a shameless liar.
For his part, Trump is already using the Twitter feed our fascist media hope to bully away from him, to fight back.
Let us also not forget the following…
This is the very same CNN and BuzzFeed that, for months, imperiously shamed others over publishing Fake News.
This is the very same CNN and BuzzFeed that, for months, feigned horror and screamed “Hacked the election!” over WikiLeaks releasing what was substantiated to be true about the Democrat Party.
And now, here are CNN and BuzzFeed, embarrassed by the election results, made impotent by a public well aware of their lies and biases; willfully and eagerly tossing away every single ethic of their profession just to wound and embarrass the man who defeated and exposed them.
As someone who has been sounding the alarm about BuzzFeed‘s Ben Smith for ten years, and about CNN for about three years, I can only say, told ya’ so. Again and again, I warned that both news outlets had long ago ceased to be anything close to legitimate; that there is no barrel bottom they won’t scrape, no lie they won’t tell, no dirty partisan trick they won’t pull in order to further their left-wing agenda and protect the rotting corpse of the failed status quo.
