The results of the Nov. 8th election made the mainstream media very, very angry — and ever since the election, they’ve been lashing out with “fake news” hit pieces.
But there’s bad news for liberals.
Turns out these so-called “fake news” attacks the left has been grasping so desperately too are — you guessed it — faked.
Once again, the “fake news” is almost entirely coming from the left.
In a widely circulated article publishing on Nov. 24th, The Washington Post took aim at conservative blogs with a McCarthy-like black list of 200 so-called Russian propaganda websites they blamed for President-elect Donald Trump’s victory at the ballot box.
Ever since, the newspaper has been subject to scorn and ridicule over the highly controversial article — and is currently facing a major lawsuit threat for libel.
Wednesday, the paper’s editor seemingly acknowledged the criticisms and very quietly began to distance his organization from the controversial hit piece using a lengthy editors note quietly tacked on to the article.
Editor’s Note: The Washington Post on Nov. 24 published a story on the work of four sets of researchers who have examined what they say are Russian propaganda efforts to undermine American democracy and interests. One of them was PropOrNot, a group that insists on public anonymity, which issued a report identifying more than 200 websites that, in its view, wittingly or unwittingly published or echoed Russian propaganda. A number of those sites have objected to being included on PropOrNot’s list, and some of the sites, as well as others not on the list, have publicly challenged the group’s methodology and conclusions. The Post, which did not name any of the sites, does not itself vouch for the validity of PropOrNot’s findings regarding any individual media outlet, nor did the article purport to do so. Since publication of The Post’s story, PropOrNot has removed some sites from its list.
Whoops.
This isn’t just a simple mistake, of course. It follows a pattern of the “fake news” feeder system put in place by the campaign of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, which The Horn News reported Wednesday may have been behind months of biased and unfounded stories, interviews, and attacks against Trump and his supporters.
In their hunt to find the people responsible for “fake news” stories, The Washington Post has finally started down the right path — it starts with liberal journalists looking in a mirror.
